Goodies for the
Good Guys
All of us at Brigade Quartermasters appreciate the tough job all the men and women serving our country are doing in this extraordinarily difficult and dangerous period. We initiated this project last year by inviting vendors to contribute any extra “goodies” they could spare for us to send to our Warriors in faraway places. Thousands and thousands of items were donated to us, plus our own continuous donations of gear to send to deploying and deployed personnel. We contributed the thousands of dollars of additional postage costs, including tens of thousands of “Defending Freedom” camo wristbands. Through this program, we’ve been able to bring a little light, boost morale, and surprise into an otherwise “day from hell”. The letters from the soldiers tell the story. With this collective effort, our service men, women and civilian contract personnel have had additional comfort knowing we DO NOT forget, and that we CARE and SUPPORT them everyday.

To BRIGADEQM, Mitchell and Geoffrey WerBell, and all the folks at Brigade QM,

Hello, I am TSgt Marc Slonecker. I JUST ordered some stuff for me and the guys in the Joint unit I work in. You all have out done yourself this time around. I ordered this about a week ago (or less) and it is here. Then when I open it I see that you guys threw in some extras. I know that tissues and some cue cards don't sound like much but, it made this Christmas Eve that much better. We all have the sniffles due to the recent snow and the cue cards go to the newbies that have to use them to pitch the op orders. You guys have sold me forever as a customer. Less time for it to get here than I have ever seen, and free stuff to boot, YOU GUYS ROCK! Thank you so much for the SUPERFAST delivery and the extra goodies. You will be the First place I go to from now on, and I will only buy elsewhere if you guys don't have it. Thank you so very much.

Subject:Thank you
Dear Sirs,

I recently ordered some items for my 17 year old son for Christmas. It came in a couple different deliveries because of backorders. The first order contained a letter to "One of the Good Guys" thanking him for his service. I showed him the letter and the gift you enclosed. I must tell you that he was impressed with the letter though he is not active duty. His father is the active duty member, an officer with the US Army Veterinary Corps. My father was in the Navy for 24 years and my husband going on 20 years. My son would like to continue the tradition but because of a medical condition may be disqualified. We have always taught our children that they also serve by supporting their dad and following him all over the world. Our kids are very patriotic and love the military and I think that is why he loved the letter. It is getting rarer and rarer to find those who support the military and those who serve. I know it is your business but your business can be run with out your obvious deep support of the military. Please accept my heart felt thanks.

Sincerely,
Melinda Yantis

Barbara,
I wanted to thank Brigade Quartermaster and you once again for assisting Girl Scout Troop 6053 in shipping our cookies to Co H 121st ABN LRS soldiers in Iraq... The girls in Troop 6053 appreciate your help in shipping our "good guys" their cookies. I have attached a picture of Troop 6053 with our good guy Spc Charles Feltman who was so kind to come by and meet the girls while he was on his 2 week leave from Iraq back in January.

Greetings,
Package recieved as of today and in good order. Outstanding, folks. Thats what I call snappy service. The extra included was very much indeed appreciated and is sharp as a tack. Things like that are a real morale booster. Next time I need gear that is in short supply out here at the front, I know who I will give a shout to- the B.Q.!

Thanks a bunch,

Subject: Hello
Salute, Mitchell and Geoffrey WerBell, & B.Q.M.

Thank you and Brigade Quartermasters for the letter and gift. The enclosed photo's are enclosed to show you that there are quite a few civilians here, putting our lives on the line to support our troops.

I was driving this tractor Dec. 20th, 2005 when an IED destroyed it at approx 18:30.

I was in a convoy escorted by Army gun trucks, when it blew. 2 gun trucks and 3 KBR Units had already passed it. After the blast, I was still doing 50 MPH with no steering or brakes.

The shock wave nearly knocked me out. I was seeing stars, hoping that the rig did not jack knife and roll over. The tractor and trailer finally plowed into the dirt between North and South lanes, at least 150 yards from the point of explosion. I turned off the engine, which was spewing fuel and oil and fire. Once the engine stopped, most of the flames died away as the dust settled. I crawled out the passenger side, away from the fuel tank, and watched as the convoy pressed ahead to a "Safe" area as we are trained to do. This clears the way for the last Gun Truck to roll up to assist and provide cover or possible rescue.

After the area was declared secure, we disconnected the undamaged trailer, yanked the destroyed tractor away with another truck, then a "Bobtail" tractor hooked to the trailer. Each convoy has "Bobtails" for this reason. A recovery team from the nearest base (which was LSA Anaconda) took the wreckage away. I rode the rest of the convoy with a buddy. After the Adrenaline wore off, I discovered I was injured. My left wrist was swollen from a hairline fracture after the steering wheel whipped back from the blast. Had a nasty headache and earache, and the next day, my internals let me know they were affected. Had to run for the toilet a few times.

The "Tan" areas are heavy armor, with heavy glass. It done it's job.

The Cummins engine had holes all the way through it, but was still running.

I am glad to be among the living. 2 dozen fellow truckers have gave all, and twice that many wounded. I am proud to say I have met some top notch soldiers, airmen, and marines. The Mass Media seems to focus on the ones that screw up, or wrongly accused of screwing up. The Bastards can't seem to figure out our guys are up against Evil sons a bitches that do not follow rules of combat. But that is another story.

Keep up the good work, support our troops, and remember, freedom isn't free.

Sincerely,

Adrian DeLoche

Folks

I'm a small-fry customer, but every time I've ordered and every thing is handled beautifully. Called today to make sure I hadn't messed-up a fax order, and the CS person (Gail ?) was quick, personable and funny. I could tell that she was handling system data to resolve a "dating" problem. Every person I've dealt with there has been the proverbial "smart cookie"

You folks know you do a good job with good products, but if a curmudgeon-in-training like me is impressed, you oughta be.

Regards

Dr. M.

Subject: Seasons Greeting From Iraq
My name is Captain Anh Ha,

I am the commander of Delta Company 2-35 Infantry currently forward deployed in Iraq. I would like to extend a Merry Christmas and Seasons Greetings to your company and all the employees that work there. We use your products on a daily basis and would like for your business to know that we truly do appreciate all their support for US troops throughout this War on Terrorism.

My soldiers have ordered off your website many times to get the gear they need to conduct combat operations. I am also trying to campaign letters for my soldiers. This is the hardest part of the year for them through this holiday season being away from their families and friends. For many of my young soldiers this will be their first Christmas away from their families. Anything that you do would be much appreciated.

Please hang this flier up in your break rooms and anywhere else your employees can see our appreciation.

Thank you very much again for all your support.

Sincerely,
Anh Ha

Subject: Goodies for Good Guys
Good Evening~

My name is Josh Michlitsch. I am a Marine who ordered an item from you recently and received a complimentary item along with my purchase. I had read about that particular service in the Marine Times and found it quite impressive. I was a proud recipient of a desert bandana with Psalm 91 printed on it at no charge to me. I would just like to thank both Brigade, and the sponsors who make this service possible. And let them know that my entire unit enjoyed the item when I rounded them up to read the Psalm to them. So I write this to you on behalf of all the Marines and Sailors at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Japan. It is companies like these and Americans like you that remind us how important our mission is. I can't thank you enough for your support, and God bless all of you, as well as our brothers and sisters in harm's way. Thank you again.

Mitchell and Geoffrey-

I can't say enough how much I appreciated finding an unexpected gift inside my latest BQM order. It was a bit strange, because the package of Action Gear desert tan 550 Cord was something I needed to purchase anyway, as I had recently run out. You guys read my mind!

Ultimately, I just want to thank you for the outstanding service that you provide. I've had to purchase a lot of items since arriving in Iraq, and I've done the majority of it through Brigade Quartermaster. Other items (that you didn't offer) were difficult to get information on, order and track. I've never been anything but happy with your products, prices and speedy delivery. The "Good Guys" program you've implemented shows that you are much more than your average retail company out to earn a buck - you genuinely care about the welfare of the soldier.

I've attached a recent picture of me taken in front of a T-62 that has seen better days. You may notice that I'm sporting a new EOTech weapons sight and MAX+TAC gloves ordered from your company. Keep up the good work!

Thanks again,
LT Horning

I received my order from you today and I want to thank you. You are a great company to do business with, not only for the products you have, but for the benefits that you offer to members of the armed forces. It is a pleasure to know that there are people out there who support us so fully. In my package I received my order plus a set of nomex gloves at no charge. Reading your letter about giving "goodies to the good guys" a great feeling came over me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and on behalf of soldiers, marines, airmen and sailors (other wise known as ground pounders, jarheads, flyboys and squids) for your support when others find fit to toss us to the wayside. We'll keep up the good work if you will!

To whom it may concern,

My name is SGT Joshua Meacham. I am deployed to Iraq with the 110th Military Police Company out of Fort Hood, TX. I had never heard of your company until I found you on the AAFES website. I ordered a poncho liner from you. I received my order in an extremely timely manner, which is odd for the Army mail system. I also received a free gift inside my order. I couldn't believe that there is still someone out there supporting the soldiers like this. After my first deployment to Iraq (FEB03-MAR04) the support for the soldiers started to dwindle away. Now, when I watch the news I see people saying its okay to not support the troops if you disagree with the war. I don't understand it myself, since I have been a soldier for over 7 years and I have only made one choice in my career. That was to join. Soldiers don't make policies, we follow orders. I'm glad to see there are still organizations out there that believe in the troops. Thank you for your service to us. We don't hear "good job" or "welcome home" from anyone besides our wives and children. So, when we get free stuff just for doing our job, we tend to get a little excited. I told my soldiers about your company and I will continue to support you.

Thanks,
SGT Joshua Meacham

Subject: Operation Goodies to the Good Guys
Dear Mitchell and Geoffrey WerBell,

Recently I purchased some much needed gear from Brigade Quartermasters. In the package were several extra "Goodies." Thanks so much for your support. I passed the "Defending Freedom" bracelets out among my troops. They were a big hit.

Knowing that individuals and businesses are behind the troops deployed to Iraq is a big morale booster.

Thanks again for your support,

Subject: Thanks from Baghdad
I wanted to thank your company for the quality products you promote. I'm [part of the] 822 Security Forces Squadron currently deployed to Baghdad... Just prior to our leaving the states and having used your company before, I looked on your site for boots. After some debate, I settled on a pair of the Ridge Desert Scorpion boots, partly for reputation by Ridge, partly due because my unit's mascot is the scorpion. Amazingly, the boots arrived within three days of ordering and as soon as I put them on, the comfort was amazing. I've now worn them every day here, on multiple operations, and get appraising comments each time someone sees them. The wear is awesome, traction incredible, and best of all, no break-in required like with leather boots. Since them, many of my unit members have ordered the boots and the results are always the same...these boots are incredible! I've attached a small photo of me and my spotter headed out on our first mission north of Baghdad. Thanks again!

Just For Kicks!

Brigade received the following e-mail and pictures from a customer who had an interesting story to tell:

Subject: Brigade Story

Just wanted to attach two photos of my cat inside a "Brigade Quartermasters" shipping box. I have spent a hundred plus dollars on fur lined beds over the years, but she will only sleep inside your "Brigade" box. We have tried other boxes throughout, but she refuses to sleep in any other bed or box! Thought I would share it with you. Use the photos if you would like.

Thanks for being an outstanding provider for law enforcement equipment.

We thought we would have some fun, so Brigade had a contest, Best Tag Line wins! Here's the results:

1st Place: Fur jackets now come unassembled, some skinning, tanning and sewing required.

2nd Place: One of the good guys? - nah - I don't think so. I'm one of the good gals!

3rd Place: Water-resistant; Designed with integral NVG; Uses common household upholstery to keep multiple sheathed blades razor-sharp! Non-programmable.

Honorable Mention: First look at Brigade's Newest "Urban/Subdivision" Camo Ghillie Suit! New breeds to be added, along with K-9 and 'possum!
